Editor’s note: The findings of this survey have been posted on our blog and in the white paper “The State of Social Media in Tech Transfer: 2013 Survey Results and Recommendations.”
Longtime readers of Fuentek’s blog may remember that 2 years ago we invited the tech transfer industry to complete a survey about current/planned use for social media. The results of the 2011 survey showed that many respondents had started (or planned) to use LinkedIn®, Twitter®, and to a lesser extent Facebook® and blogging to build their brand, market technologies, and build community.
Well, 2 years is an eternity on the Internet. And since I’m participating in a panel called “Social Media Unplugged: Is It Worth the Hype?” at the annual meeting of the Association of University Technology Managers® (AUTM®) in San Antonio, Texas, later this month, it’s time to revisit the question:
Are technology transfer professionals using social media in their work? If they are using it, which tools do they use and do they find it helps them achieve their goals? And if they’re not using it, why not?
So I invite all technology transfer professionals to take this 5-minute survey by Wednesday, Feb. 20th:
- You don’t have to use social media in pursuing technology transfer – It’s just as important that we hear from tech transfer professionals who are NOT using social media as from those who are.
- You don’t have to be a member of AUTM or even represent a university technology transfer office – Any tech transfer professional can complete the survey.
The results of this survey will be discussed during the social media session at AUTM 2013 (Session ED5 on Friday, March 1 starting at 9:00 a.m.) as well as presented on this blog.
So what are you waiting for? Take the survey now!
And if you are going to the AUTM meeting, feel free to download and print out our white paper “Leveraging Social Media for Technology Transfer Marketing.” and maybe some of our many other insights about using social media for tech transfer to read en route.
And when you’re in San Antonio, stop by the Fuentek booth — #412 — and drop your business card for a chance to win a tablet device preloaded with our webinars as well as all our white papers. I look forward to seeing you there!
