(June 20, 2012)

APEX, N.C. – Fuentek, LLC has announced the release of a white paper titled, "And the Winner Is … : Using Innovation Awards to Boost Commercialization." Developed in collaboration with the Innovation Projects Office at NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, this paper provides insight on how to leverage an effective awards strategy to boost the technology transfer/commercialization process.

The paper begins by discussing the value of innovation awards and how they positively contribute to the commercialization process and inventor-employer relations. The instructional paper goes on to provide detailed guidance on how to plan an effective awards strategy and successfully apply for awards. The insights shared in the paper are based on extensive experience in successfully pursuing a variety of awards for innovators and their technologies.

"We have found that the 'award-winning' moniker can increase the value of a technology in the eyes of a potential licensee," said Fuentek's Nannette Stangle-Castor, Ph.D., who co-authored the paper. "In this paper, we give readers the tools they need to be proactive, efficient, and successful in pursuing innovation awards for the benefit of their technology transfer or commercialization efforts."

"Our office has worked very hard over the years to establish a thriving awards program and gain recognition for the center's researchers and their innovations," said Kimberly Dalgleish-Miller, who is chief of the Innovation Projects Office at NASA's Glenn Research Center. "It is a privilege to share our experiences to benefit other research institutions."
