APEX, N.C. – Laura A. Schoppe, president of Fuentek, LLC, a local technology consulting firm that provides intellectual property and technology transfer services, has announced that Laura A. Schoppe, president, and Karen Hiser, senior consultant, will lead a half-day preconference training at the 2011 National Meeting for the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer on Monday, May 2, in Nashville, Tenn. The FLC is the nationwide network of federal laboratories that provides the forum to develop strategies and opportunities for linking laboratory mission technologies and expertise with the marketplace.

The training will discuss how to tailor and integrate social media tools into FLC members’ communications and marketing strategies. The interactive session will provide opportunities for attendees to work through real-life scenarios, engage in problem solving, and help technology transfer professionals think “outside the box" to find new ways to commercialize technology.

“Social media is a useful tool, but it can also seem overwhelming, particularly for budget-strapped federal labs,” said Schoppe. “Our half-day FLC session will help make this new tool manageable and effective for these organizations’ tech transfer offices.”
