National Attention for Telecommuting and Virtual Companies
A couple of weeks ago, Jack and I had the pleasure of being interviewed by National Public Radio’s Adam Hochberg about running a virtual company. The story ran today, and you can read an overview or listen to it here. Our partners at Balancing Professionals were also interviewed in the story.
We are proud of the survey system we use in recruiting new staff. We have found it to be a very useful and efficient tool in the hiring process. In addition to asking about applicants’ experience with different aspects of our work, we use the survey to inquire about their experience working in a virtual office. This could be working from home or working remotely from a supervisor and client.
The opinions people share about such a structure, and what they see as its advantages and disadvantages give a very good indication of whether they are cut out for home-based work.

What have you found to be the advantages and disadvantages of having staff work remotely?

No, this isn’t Laura and Jack. It’s Zoey and Bella, the two dogs who enjoy having Laura working at home.
