Packing My Bags for AUTM Meeting in Vegas
|Laura will miss her pups while in Vegas for a week at AUTM2011!|
Tomorrow morning I head over to RDU airport to fly to Las Vegas for the annual conference of the Association of University Technology Managers®.
It’s going to be a busy week, especially now that I serve on the AUTM board as vice president of strategic alliances. Basically, this means that I represent the views of AUTM members who are not universities but rather are service providers and other organizations who do business with AUTM’s academic members. The goal is to help universities connect with these organizations so that they can get to better deals faster. I’ll also be working to collaborate and build relationships with my counterparts at other associations. All of this means lots and lots of meetings and receptions!
But there’s still time for informal conversations (and a little blackjack ☺). For example, Fuentek’s hosting a tweet-up at Booth #305 on Monday Feb. 28th at 10:30 a.m. (that’s Vegas time, baby!) where we’ll talk with university tech transfer offices about their use of social media tools in their work. If you’re going to be at AUTM2011—that’s the hashtag, if you’re on Twitter; follow us http://twitter.com/fuentek—please stop by. Here’s a map so you can find us in the exhibit hall.
By the way, if you haven’t already taken it, check out our 5-minute survey on social media in tech transfer. Even if you don’t use social media in your work, you should take the survey. You can see some preliminary results in Karen Hiser’s blog post from yesterday.
We’ll also be having several drawings to win a free registration to our upcoming webinars on using social media in tech transfer (April 7th) and technology screening for interns (May 19th). So drop your card in the box at Booth 305 – the earlier you enter, the more chances you have to win! Drawings are Monday at 3:45pm, Tuesday at 9:15am, and Wednesday at 3:15pm.
Oh! Y si eres del Sudamérica o América Central (o España!) y vas a la conferencia, venga a verme el martes (el 1 de marzo) a las 9:30 de la mañana en el stand 305 (el mapa). ¡Vamos a hablar #techtransfer en Español!
So, lots of meetings. But I’m also looking forward to meeting a lot of interesting practitioners of tech transfer. Oh, and having a meal at Bartolotta!
