The Fuentek team is getting ready to head down to Florida for the 2017 meeting of the Association of University Technology Managers® (AUTM®). AUTM’s national meeting provides a great opportunity for technology transfer professionals to network with universities, industry, investors, and research institutions. It’s also an excellent way to learn about the latest advancements in tech transfer and even advance your career. Here’s a sneak peek into our plans for this year.
We have returned from New Orleans and are settling back into our daily routine in our respective offices and enjoying/battling the snow. Thinking back over the AUTM® National Meeting this past week, a few highlights are sticking with me and the rest of the Fuentek leadership team that attended the conference. It’s great to be in San Francisco for the 2014 AUTM national meeting. Today was our first full day here, and it’s been busy! The meeting is definitely off to a great start!
I spent a good bit of today at the Fuentek booth (#207). I haven’t seen formal registration numbers, but the traffic at our booth suggests there is solid representation from all over the world. Becky Stoughton and I met a number of attendees from Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East. Many of our conversations with those from outside the U.S. were about starting technology transfer offices (TTOs) or effective strategies for growing a nascent TTO.
Following up on last week’s Worth Reading post, I’d like to offer this postscript for those of you going the AUTM® 2014 meeting in a couple of weeks. These two items will help you with your networking and prepare you for our panel on incentivizing researcher participation in technology transfer. BTW, have you taken our 5-minute survey yet?
